It is characterised by recurrent seizures resulting from abnormal electrical activity in the brain. The Epilepsy Awareness course is designed to enhance healthcare professionals’ knowledge of epilepsy, improve diagnostic accuracy, and optimise care delivery.
The course explores the definition, epidemiology, and classification of epilepsy, delving into seizure types, triggers, and diagnostic challenges. It provides a comprehensive overview of management strategies, including pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatments, emergency care, and psychosocial considerations. Special focus is given to epilepsy care in vulnerable populations such as children, pregnant women, and older adults, ensuring tailored, patient-centred support.
