The Parkinson’s Disease Awareness course provides healthcare professionals, caregivers, and other stakeholders with a comprehensive understanding of Parkinson’s Disease (PD), a progressive neurodegenerative disorder affecting over 145,000 individuals in the UK. PD significantly impacts movement, balance, and quality of life, while also presenting a range of non-motor symptoms that require holistic and empathetic care.
This course explores the causes, progression, and impact of PD on the nervous system, addressing hallmark motor symptoms (tremor, rigidity, bradykinesia, and postural instability) alongside non-motor symptoms such as cognitive decline, mood disturbances, and sleep disorders. Participants will learn about timely diagnosis, effective medication management, rehabilitation therapies, and the critical role of multidisciplinary teams in enhancing patient outcomes.
